SUMMARY:SF/Bay Area Chapter: Navigating the GLP-1 Surge in Adolescents
DESCRIPTION:As GLP-1 medications become more widely available to adolescents\, eating disorder professionals are facing challenging clinical situations. This presentation explores the unique safety issues specific to GLP-1 use in youth. We will discuss obtaining meaningful consent and assent from both parents and teens\, and how to align on treatment goals when weight loss motivation and concerns for eating disorder risk are in conflict. We’ll include collaborative care strategies that integrate family-centered approaches. You’ll leave with strategies to support informed decision-making and reduce risk while keeping overall well-being at the center. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter: \n\n\n\nDr. Lauren Hartman is a double board-certified pediatrician and adolescent medicine specialist with nearly 20 years of experience treating children\, adolescents\, and young adults with eating disorders across hospital and outpatient settings.
