Eating disorders (EDs) are challenging to treat and are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Research indicates that therapists underutilize evidence-based interventions for EDs and comorbid conditions and that exposure therapy is particularly underutilized. One reason for this underutilization involves negative attitudes and beliefs about such interventions and their associated manuals. The aim of this presentation is to challenge some of these beliefs by reducing common confusion about the difference between evidence-based interventions and evidence-based practice. In addition, this presentation will show how Person’s case formulation approach can be used to embrace evidence-based practice for EDs with an emphasis on the use of exposure therapy.

Whether you specialize in psychotherapy, medical monitoring, nutrition, body movement, or research, this symposium will equip you with practical knowledge, peer support, and a broader view of what the future of our field demands.
You are able to earn up to 12.5 CEUs from the live symposium. After the symposium is over, you will also get access to the virtual symposium for free, where you can earn up to 56.75 CEUs through pre-recorded recordings through December 2026.
In an effort to cover as many practitioners as possible, we offer CEs through APA, AMA and ACCME (and many other accrediting bodies recognize these CEs).
Note: The American Medical Association (AMA) has an agreement of mutual recognition of continuing medical education (CME) credit with the European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS). Under the terms of this agreement, the AMA will convert CME credit for live and e-learning activities certified by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME), the accrediting arm of the UEMS, to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. The renewed agreement is in place through July 31, 2026.
If you do not see your organization listed, we encourage you to check with your board.
Credits will be available for you to claim immediately after each session. You can claim CEs using the [Attendee Dashboard] link in the email you received with the subject “{2026 iaedp Symposium - In-Person} Claim CEs and Download Certificate Here.” This email contains a custom link just for you where you can claim your CEs. Another email with CE claiming instructions will be sent at the conclusion of the symposium tomorrow. If you have any challenges finding the email or with credit claiming after the symposium, please email us at symposium@iaedpfoundation.com, and we will be happy to help.
Important: Each session will have a verification code displayed on the screen at the start and end of the session. Our room monitors will also have the verification code on a piece of paper at the door. Please write down the unique verification code for each session you attend. You will self-select which sessions you have attended and will be required to include a verification code and fill out a brief evaluation. The verification code will be shared in the session by the room monitors and speakers. Please write down and track your verification codes as you attend sessions throughout the event so you have them ready when completing your evaluations. If you missed your verification code during a session you attended, please check with your room monitor during the session or immediately come by the registration desk for assistance.
