Melissa Spann, PhD, MBA, CEDS-C
2026–2029 Member-at-Large
My professional journey across clinical leadership, research, and organizational development has consistently been shaped by my commitment to advancing the field of eating disorders through evidence-based innovation, thoughtful communication, and collaborative engagement.
Throughout my career, I have worked closely with marketing and communication teams in both clinical and organizational leadership roles. As Chief Clinical Officer of a national behavioral health organization, I partnered with marketing colleagues to ensure that outreach materials reflected clinical accuracy, sensitivity, and inclusivity. Together, we crafted campaigns that not only highlighted program excellence but also reduced stigma and promoted access to care. I have also contributed to public-facing initiatives, including media interviews, conference presentations, webinars, and community education, where I collaborated with communications specialists to translate complex clinical knowledge into messages that resonate with diverse audiences. These experiences underscored the power of integrated marketing and communications in shaping public perception, strengthening partnerships, and advancing the mission of treatment organizations.
Equally central to my work is a deep and sustained commitment to research. For more than two decades, I have been dedicated to bridging scientific knowledge with clinical practice. I have authored and co-authored peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and professional presentations, and I am currently engaged in multiple book projects that address both clinical and public audiences. My work integrates evidence-based practice with relational and authenticity-centered frameworks, reflecting my belief that scholarship and practice must inform one another to elevate care standards. Supporting the Eating Disorders Review Journal allows me to extend this commitment by encouraging the dissemination of rigorous, accessible, and clinically meaningful research to iaedp members worldwide. My service philosophy is guided by collaboration, inclusivity, and integrity. As a clinical supervisor, iaedp consultant, educator, and leader, I have cultivated environments where individual voices are valued, and where communication strategies align with core values of authenticity and excellence. I believe the iaedp Foundation Board plays a vital role in amplifying these principles by fostering innovation in marketing and communication and ensuring that publications remain both scientifically robust and clinically relevant to ensure organizational success.
Serving as a Member-at-Large allows me to bring the intersection of clinical expertise, research experience, and marketing collaboration to iaedp’s mission, with which I have been actively engaged both locally and nationally. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the growth of iaedp’s visibility and the advancement of knowledge in our field. With gratitude and deep respect for the work iaedp continues to champion,

Aridia Vasquez, MD,MS
2026–2029 Member-at-Large
Since 2013, I have had the privilege of being an active member of iaedp, a journey that has profoundly shaped both my professional development and my personal mission in the field of Eating Disorders.
Over more than a decade, I have witnessed how iaedp not only provides rigorous education and standards of excellence, but also cultivates a community that empowers clinicians, researchers, and advocates worldwide. I bring more than a decade of clinical and academic experience in the treatment and prevention of Eating Disorders, complemented by continuous engagement in international networks and work with diverse populations.
My career has afforded me the opportunity to collaborate across cultures, disciplines, and contexts—an approach I consider increasingly essential for a global organization. Consistently, I have sought to integrate evidence-based science with cultural sensitivity and empathy, ensuring that our field remains not only scientifically robust but also profoundly human-centered. Throughout my years of involvement with iaedp, I have come to value how this organization creates spaces for dialogue, growth, and inclusion. I aspire to expand these efforts by contributing to initiatives that strengthen global collaboration, mentorship of emerging professionals, and the development of resources accessible to communities that are often underrepresented in the discourse around Eating Disorders.
To me, iaedp is not only a leader in education but also a catalyst for equity, diversity, and international advancement in mental health care.
My motivation stems from the conviction that leadership is service. I am inspired to serve on the iaedp Foundation Board as a way of giving back to the organization that has supported my growth since 2013, and of ensuring that the next generation of clinicians and advocates finds the same encouragement, inspiration, and standards of excellence. I believe my dedication, intercultural experience, and sustained commitment to iaedp uniquely position me to contribute with vision, commitment, and humility. It is an honor to bring my skills, perspectives, and passion to the iaedp Foundation Board, collaborating with esteemed colleagues whom I deeply admire and who have become like a professional family.
I am confident that, together, we can uphold the legacy of iaedp while also opening new pathways toward inclusion, innovation, and global leadership in the field of Eating Disorders.
