Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative 2 (EDGI2)
The Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative 2 (EDGI2) is the largest research study ever conducted to uncover the genetic and environmental roots of eating disorders. It is led by a group of researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in collaboration with partners in Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, and Denmark.
Pinpointing the genes and environmental factors that predispose people to eating disorders will revolutionize our understanding of these illnesses and how they can be prevented and treated. In order to make this happen, we are recruiting thousands of adults from across the U.S. with a lifetime history of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, or avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) – no medical diagnosis required.
About Participation Participation in EDGI2 is easy, confidential, and can be completed from home:
Take the screening survey to see if the study is a good fit (20-60 min)
Answer more questions about eating, health, and behavior (60-150 min)
Use our spit kit to collect a saliva sample and return it to us (20 min)
Eligible participants who finish the required surveys and return a saliva sample will receive a $30 gift card.
