Beatriz Verdi
Co-Chair of Spain
Beatriz Verdi holds a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Universidad Central de Venezuela and an Official Master’s Degree in Psychology from Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela. She completed two clinical internships: one in Clinical Nutrition and a second specializing in Eating Disorders at the Teaching Hospital Centro Médico de Caracas, both recognized as leading training programs for nutritionists. She has an extensive professional background in both clinical practice and academia and is an expert in implementing family-based treatment programs for patients with eating disorders. Beatriz is a founding member and former director of the Eating Disorders Unit (UNITCA) at the Centro Médico de Caracas in Venezuela. She is also the founder and director of Beatriz Verdi Nutrición, based in Madrid, Spain, where she provides direct care to ED patients and their families. She leads a specialized team focused on nutritional treatment, collaborating with other professionals in a multidisciplinary approach.
With 25 years of experience, her expertise spans all three levels of ED treatment: inpatient care, day hospital programs, and outpatient care at institutions such as the Centro Médico de Caracas and the day hospital program at Universitario Santa Cristina Hospital in Madrid, both of which are nationally renowned centers. In the academic field, Beatriz has been an active contributor to various official postgraduate programs and private training initiatives at prestigious universities and institutions. Currently, she serves as a professor in the Master’s in Eating Disorders program at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Psicológicos and in the Advanced Knowledge Course on Eating Disorders, offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Psychiatry at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Additionally, she has held the role of coordinator and professor for the Clinical Nutrition Internship and the Eating Disorders Internship at the Centro Médico de Caracas. She has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences and symposia and is the author of several scientific publications and book chapters. She is a member of the Academia Española de Nutrición y Dietética, where she belongs to the Specialization Group in Eating Disorders Nutrition (GE-NuTCA). Through the International Chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals, she actively works to promote educational and professional development initiatives in Spain aimed at advancing the global treatment of eating disorders.

Naiara Aizpurua, Dietista-Nutricionista y Farmacéutica
Co-Chair of Spain
Graduada en Nutrición Humana y Dietética y Licenciada en Farmacia por la Universidad del País Vasco (España), con Máster en Cineantropometría y Nutrición Deportiva por la Universidad de Valencia. Fundadora del Centro de Nutrición Naiara Aizpurua, Co-Chair para España del capítulo internacional de la iaedp™ y miembro de la Asociación Española para el Estudio de los Trastornos de la Conducta Alimentaria (AEETCA).
Cuenta con formación avanzada en el tratamiento de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria, que incluye asesoramiento nutricional informado en FBT (Tratamiento Basado en la Familia) para dietistas, manejo nutricional de trastornos por atracón, alimentación informada en trauma, mindfulness y coaching. Es líder facilitadora del Body Image Program (BIP) y cofundadora de Vive tu experiencia BIP, un proyecto que desarrolla e implementa programas grupales para fortalecer la imagen corporal.
Su práctica clínica se centra en el tratamiento nutricional de personas con TCA y en el acompañamiento a sus familias. Es también cofundadora de Nutriendo el Plato, una iniciativa educativa dirigida a familiares y cuidadores que apoyan la recuperación de un ser querido con un TCA.
Trabaja desde una perspectiva de género, con un enfoque inclusivo basado en Salud en Todas las Tallas® (HAES®) e informado en trauma. Su compromiso es crear espacios seguros y libres de juicios, donde las personas puedan cuestionar las presiones sociales y culturales y recuperar su bienestar integral.
Desde su labor en el capítulo internacional de la iaedp™, su misión es acercar tratamientos basados en la evidencia a profesionales de la salud, promoviendo una práctica que valore la diversidad y respete las experiencias individuales, con el objetivo de seguir formando y colaborando con profesionales comprometidos en el tratamiento de los TCA.

Maricarmen Diaz Juarez
Director of International Affairs
Maricarmen Díaz lives in Mexico City. She dedicated most of her professional career – nearly thirty years – to being a university professor and researcher in the field of Law. Her academic and professional preparation comes with a Law degree, a master’s degree in Higher Education and a PhD in Private Law, so her command of Spanish is at a very advanced level. Since 2015, she started with the Spanish translation of the Eating Disorders Review, and since 2020, she has been part of the iaedp™ team as Director of Language and Translation, being the Spanish face of the association. She likes to think that through her work, she helps valuable information reach more people in Spanish-speaking countries who are seeking treatment for recovery from these complex illnesses. Currently, she also has her own company: Your Business in Spanish, a culturally sensitive Spanish translation specializing in mental health and eating disorders. In her free time, she enjoys reading about personal development and novels by Latin American authors, swimming daily and outdoor activities.
