06 Jan iaedp Foundation Board of Directors 2024 Annual Letter to Membership  

 As my tenure as President concludes, I have reflected upon events of the past year. The Foundation faced challenges that tested its mettle in so many ways. And while there were moments when I wondered how (never whether) we would get through them, it’s hard to believe how fast time has elapsed, and how much our iaedp community has accomplished during the past year. It is with great appreciation, that I recognize our community for your continued membership and commitment to our Mission of promoting exceptional professionalism, and the highest ethical standards as we treat persons with eating disorders, and in the preparation of practitioners to do the same. I also extend gratitude to former members whose efforts have contributed to iaedp’s success, and hope in earnest that we will regain your confidence and that you will soon reunite with us.   

While 2024 began with mixed emotions as we said fare-well to our long-standing Managing Director, Bonnie Harken, we continued our focus and the Board of Directors (the Board) began reengineering various components and processes of the Foundation in efforts to enhance our leadership, and also to maximize efficiency and effective use of resources. The Board hopes these changes will be the start of a revitalized Association where members believe they have a voice and feel a true belonging, thus fostering greater ownership and participation. A few of the concrete changes that have been enacted to achieve our goals include the following: 

• Launched an overhauled, easy to navigate website www.iaedpfoundation.com in conjunction with implementing a targeted social media campaign and a revised email marketing plan 

• Hired an Interim Executive Director, Membership Manager, Events Manager, and new Accounting Firm 

• Streamlined the iaedp Certification Process to increase accessibility and affordability by removing the membership and Symposium attendance requirements    

• Transitioned the CORE course curriculum from in-person to a virtual platform in order to increase accessibility and affordability 

• Revised the Board of Directors and Association committee selection process, encouraging greater diversity of composition through increased membership and engagement; As such, the Board welcomes 5 new members for 2025-2027 – including the President, and 4 Members-At-Large; Seven members will leave the Board and 6 existing members will remain (our new President-Elect is one of the remaining 6 members)   

• Held successful International Chapter Training Days in El Salvador and welcomed new Chapter Chairs from El Salvador and China 

• Updated the Foundation’s Ethics Statement  

• Launched the first-ever Year-End Giving Campaign and initiated a Come Back Membership Campaign 

As I prepare to transition from my role as Board President, into the role of Immediate Past President, I do so, knowing that I have had the privilege of being supported by some of the most brilliant practitioners in our discipline. This Board’s skills and expertise have been invaluable, and I have gained something specific from each of them. In addition, I have been aided by a very knowledgeable group of independent contractors – one very fabulous contractor, in particular. Without question, the past two years have handed me one of the most enriching learning experiences of my life. I’m quite excited for what’s next, beginning with seeing everyone in person at the Meet the Board Reception at the iaedp 2025 Symposium, at the J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, CA, Thursday, February 20th, at 4:30 pm. Hope to see you there!

Mensaje anual de la Junta Directiva de la Fundación iaedp a sus miembros

Este año que termina, 2024

A medida que concluye mi periodo como Presidenta, he reflexionado sobre los acontecimientos del año pasado. La Fundación iaedp™ se enfrentó a retos que pusieron a prueba su entereza de muchas maneras. Aunque hubo momentos en los que me pregunté cómo-nunca si-lo lograríamos, es difícil creer lo rápido que ha transcurrido el tiempo y lo mucho que nuestra comunidad iaedp ha avanzado durante el año pasado. Es con gran agradecimiento, que reconozco a nuestra comunidad por su continua suscripción y compromiso con nuestra Misión de promover un profesionalismo extraordinario y los más altos estándares éticos en el tratamiento de las personas con trastornos de la conducta alimentaria, así como en la formación de profesionales especializados en el campo. También hago extensiva mi gratitud a nuestros antiguos miembros, cuyos esfuerzos han contribuido al éxito de iaedp, esperando sinceramente que recuperemos su confianza y pronto vuelvan a reconectarse con nosotros.

Aunque el año 2024 comenzó con emociones encontradas al despedirnos de nuestra Directora General por muchos años, Bonnie Harken, nos mantuvimos enfocados, por lo que la Junta Directiva (la Junta) comenzó la restructuración de varios elementos y procesos de la Fundación en un esfuerzo por mejorar nuestro liderazgo, así como maximizar la eficiencia y el uso eficaz de los recursos. La Junta Directiva espera que estos cambios sean el comienzo de una Asociación revitalizada, en donde los miembros consideren que tienen voz y sientan una verdadera pertenencia fomentando así, una mayor identificación y participación.

Algunos de los cambios concretos que se han implementado para lograr nuestros objetivos son los siguientes:

• Se lanzó un sitio web renovado y fácil de navegar www.iaedpfoundation.com junto con el lanzamiento de una campaña específica en redes sociales y un plan actualizado de marketing por correo electrónico.
• Se contrató a una Directora Ejecutiva Interina, a una Gerente de Membresía, a una Gerente de Eventos y a un nuevo Despacho de Contabilidad
• Se simplificó el proceso de certificación de iaedp para incrementar su accesibilidad y asequibilidad eliminando los requisitos de membresía y asistencia a los Simposios    
• Se realizó una transición del plan de estudios de los cursos BÁSICOS de una plataforma presencial a una virtual para aumentar la accesibilidad y la asequibilidad
• Se revisó el proceso de selección de la Junta Directiva y de los distintos comités de la Asociación, fomentando una mayor diversidad en su composición a través de un mayor número de miembros y el involucramiento; de esta manera, la Junta da la bienvenida a 5 nuevos miembros para 2025-2027 -incluida la Presidenta- y a 4 Miembros-At-Large; Siete miembros dejarán la Junta y 6 miembros existentes permanecerán (nuestra nueva Presidenta-Electa es uno de los 6 miembros restantes)
• Se llevaron a cabo de manera exitosa, días de entrenamiento organizados por el  International Chapter en El Salvador; se dio la bienvenida a nuestros nuevos Chapter Chairs de El Salvador y China.  
• Se actualizó la Declaración Ética de la Fundación
• Se lanzó la primera campaña de donaciones de fin de año y se inició una, para el regreso de nuestros miembros

Mientras me preparo para la transición de mi papel como Presidenta de la Junta Directiva, al de Ex Presidenta, lo hago sabiendo que he tenido el privilegio de contar con el apoyo de algunos de los profesionales más brillantes de nuestra disciplina. Las habilidades y la experiencia de esta Junta han sido invaluables, por lo que he aprendido algo específico de cada uno de ellos/ellas. Asimismo, he contado con la ayuda de un grupo de contratistas independientes muy bien cualificados, una de ellas muy especial. Sin duda, los dos últimos años me han aportado una de las experiencias de aprendizaje más enriquecedoras de mi vida. Estoy muy entusiasmada con lo que está por venir, empezando por ver a todos/todas en persona en la recepción  “Conoce a la Junta Directiva” del Simposio iaedp 2025, en el J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort de Palm Desert, CA, el jueves 20 de febrero a las 4:30pm. ¡Espero verlos a todos/as ahí!
