    FAQs

    What Continuing Education Qualifies?

Continuing education should be relevant to the prevention, assessment, treatment, recovery, or multidisciplinary care of individuals with eating disorders.

    Examples of acceptable topics include:

    • Evidence-based treatment approaches
    • Nutrition assessment and medical nutrition therapy
    • Family-based treatment
    • Co-occurring mental health conditions (such as anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and substance use disorders)
    • Medical complications associated with eating disorders
    • Ethics and professional practice
    • Cultural competence
    • Emerging research and best practices

These examples are provided as guidance and are not all-inclusive.

My Course Doesn't Say "Eating Disorders." Will It Count?

    Yes—possibly.

A course does not need to include "Eating Disorders" in the title to qualify.

If the course title or provider does not clearly demonstrate its relevance to eating disorder care, you may be asked to upload additional information, such as:

    • Learning objectives
    • Course description
    • Session outline

This information helps the Certification Team determine whether the course meets the renewal requirements.

When can I renew my credential?

You may begin your renewal up to three months before your credential expiration date.

Can I use continuing education that is not specifically titled "Eating Disorders"?

Yes. As long as the content is relevant to eating disorder prevention, assessment, treatment, recovery, or multidisciplinary care, it may qualify. If the relevance is not clear from the course title, you may be asked to provide the course description or learning objectives.

How long does the review process take?

Please allow up to 30 days after all required documentation and payment have been received.

Will I receive a notification if additional information is needed?

Yes. If additional documentation is required, the Certification Team will contact you through Certemy.
