2025 Board of Directors Announced

It’s official! Elections are over, and we have new directors ready to begin their new terms starting February 22, 2025. We are thrilled to welcome the new members joining the iaedpTM Foundation board, bringing fresh perspectives and insights that will undoubtedly enrich our organization. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the outgoing board members whose terms will have been completed on that date; your dedication and leadership have been instrumental in guiding us forward. Additionally, we appreciate all our members who participated in the voting process. Your engagement is crucial in shaping the future of iaedp, and we are grateful for your active involvement in this important transition.

Meet the Newly Elected Board Members

Eva Trujillo-ChiVacuan

President (2025-2027)

Dr. Eva Trujillo is a renowned international leader in the field of eating disorders (ED). She has transformed the field of ED treatment in Latin America by founding one of the most advanced programs internationally in a region of Mexico that previously lacked specialized services. As co-founder and director of Comenzar de Nuevo A.C., she has led this institution for over 25 years, making it a reference point throughout Latin America. The institution has provided high-quality care to more than 9,000 patients and families, with an average of 400 patients annually from 11 countries and 27 Mexican states.

Her advocacy has influenced public policies in Mexico, such as including ED in the state health law and establishing a national day for ED awareness. She is also a consultant in the panel of experts for META (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok on safety policies related to body image and eating disorders.

Dr. Trujillo has previously served on the iaedp Foundation Board of Directors for eight years, including the Senior Advisory Council, and co-founded the International Chapter. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) for 10 years, serving as President in 2016-2017, the only Latin American to hold this title. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Academy for Eating Disorders, and the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp).

Carolina Gaviria

President-Elect (2025-2027)

Carolina Gaviria is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a nationally certified Counselor, and a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and approved Consultant with more than 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. Carolina is originally from Colombia, South America, where she graduated as a psychologist. She moved to the United States in 2000 and has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of disorders that range from eating disorders and negative body image to substance abuse, OCD, and trauma. She currently has a private practice in Coconut Creek, Florida. She is fluent in Spanish and German and has published articles and presented at national and international conferences on eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and stress management. Carolina has been featured on WBWP-LD television and MundoFox, discussing the struggles behind eating disorders, weight loss, stress, and addictions, and the importance of awareness, early intervention, and multidisciplinary treatment. She is also the co-founder of the Food & Mood Institute, a series of programs dedicated to providing online education on eating disorders to the parents of children and adolescents who are in the process of recovery. Carolina has been involved with iaedp since 2016. She is past president of the South Florida chapter, and currently holds a board position and was nominated president-elect. She is part of the iaedp International Board Advisory Committee (IBAC) and the symposium committee. In addition to her work in the field of eating disorders, Carolina is also a board member of Commit and Act, a nonprofit organization that helps abused women in Sierra Leone, Africa, and recently has been leading a project in Colombia. Carolina is passionate about social change and committed to creating a better world for future generations.

Lauren Muhlheim

Member-at-Large (2025-2028)

Lauren Muhlheim, Psy.D., FAED, CEDS is a psychologist, fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), and certified eating disorder specialist (CEDS) and approved consultant (-C) for the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP). She is certified in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for adolescent eating disorders. She owns Eating Disorder Therapy LA, a group practice in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Muhlheim is the author of When Your Teen Has an Eating Disorder (New Harbinger, 2019) and has another book under contract with New Harbinger. She specializes in providing weight-inclusive adaptations to evidence-based treatments, including FBT, CBT-E, and CBT-AR. Dr. Muhlheim has held leadership roles in several professional organizations, including the AED, IAEDP LA Chapter, and the Los Angeles County Psychological Association. She has previously been an IAEDP core course instructor and provides training on eating disorders to mental health providers internationally.

Wendy Mathes

Member-at-Large (2025-2028)

Dr. Wendy Foulds Mathes serves as Director of Academic Programs and Continuing Education at Eating Recovery Center and Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Center. She has over 20 years of experience in research, education, and clinical mental health. Dr. Mathes holds a MS and PhD in experimental psychology from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and a MS in clinical mental health counseling with a specialization in sport psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Throughout her career as a research scientist and a mental health counselor, Dr. Mathes has followed her passion to educate and decrease the stigma around mental illness and eating disorders.

Adee Levinstein

Member-at-Large (2025-2028)

As Collegiate and Telehealth Partnership Manager at Eating Recovery Center and Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Center, Adee Levinstein is an eating disorders dietitian with extensive experience across multiple levels of care. She has a strong background in working with student-athletes on college campuses, where she has developed a deep understanding of their unique challenges. Adee’s expertise extends to training staff in various settings, and she is adept at navigating the nuances of eating disorders treatment in those environments. In her role, Adee supports campus professionals in overcoming barriers and helping their students achieve their goals, bringing a collaborative approach to her work. She also supports education and resource efforts for additional settings, including virtual-first companies. She is actively engaged in professional memberships and boards, including the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp), the International Federation of Eating Disorders Dietitians (IFEDD), the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), the Heartland iaedp chapter, and NetworkED. Adee frequently presents at conferences to share insights and strategies on various eating disorder and nutrition-related topics. Prior to joining Eating Recovery Center, she was selected to join the Gatorade Sports Nutrition Immersion Program Fellowship. Adee earned her MS in Exercise Physiology from Auburn University and a BS in Medical Dietetics from the University of Missouri.

Kari Anderson

Member-at-Large (2025-2028)

Kari Anderson, Doctor of Behavioral Health, is a licensed counselor in several states and is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Consultant. Prior to starting her private practice, Myeatingdoctor, LLC, a counseling, consulting and coaching business, Kari positioned herself as a respected clinician and leader in the field of eating disorders. Over the course of 30-plus years, Kari has developed several treatment models and helped thousands of patients and their families for programs such as Green Mountain at Fox Run and Remuda Ranch. Co-creator of the Am I Hungry? ® Mindful Eating for Binge Eating Program, Kari also co-authored the acclaimed book, Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat for Binge Eating: A Mindful Eating Program for Healing Your Relationship with Food and Your Body.  Her newest book and memoir, Food, Body and Love, but the greatest of these is Love, was released in 2021, and the Companion Workbook followed in 2023. She takes a compassionate and science-based approach to binge and emotional eating. She blogs for Psychology Today and speaks internationally on disorder eating and weight-neutral lifestyle medicine. She lives in Arizona with her husband but enjoys summers in Washington State in order to play pickleball outdoors year-round.
